Interesting facts about me

I became a Monkees fan here in Germany in 1986 when the tv series was on the Sky Channel. I taped every episode on an audio tape and listened so often to them as we then didn't have a video recorder. Back in those days it was very, very hard to find anything from the Monkees in Germany- so when after some years I saw a Michael Nesmith record at a record shop sale for about 50 Cents (still sealed ones) I bought 8 of them that day :-) As far as I know they never came to Germany (also not as a solo member- besides that Peter lived in his childhood days for some years somewhere in Germany..?), so I'm lucky to see so much stuff popping up on YouTube. Worst time of my life: coming to Cardiff, UK in 1997 and reading that the Monkees toured there something like two weeks ago (including Michael!). Arrrgh!! I guess that was my only lifetime chance to see them live. Blessed are the earlier born fans!
Cheers!

    Hi there iceman,
cool pics you have in your albums!
I read that you missed a Monkees show, well, I know the feeling.
I live in The Netherlands ( so basicly , I'm your neighbour....) and in 1989 the Monkees gave a concert here, but my dad sad I was to young so he didn't let me go, and the second time ( boehoehoe) I was visiting epcot centre in orlando with my husband and son, and missed the Davy Jones concert!!!( cause I didn't know he was there!)
But I enjoy youtube as well,
    Eva.

    Hi Eva,
thanks and big greetings to you in the Netherlands! (I am from the city Leer near the border, we often drive to Groningen).
In 1989 I already was a big Monkees fan, too. If I would have known then that the Monkees were in your country would have loved to go there, too! Somewhere there must be a recording of that concert as I have heard on YouTube 2 or 3 audio files from this concert.
Unfortunately I've never been to America until now. I friend of mine was in New York a month ago and bought several original old vinyl LPs for a dollar each in a second hand record store, also Monkees Colgems records (my dream to find original Colgems ones that cheap!!).
    Lots of greetings!
